General Information

I was very fortunate to be one of five foundation staff members; I can remember when our school site was just long green grass with line markings of our proposed buildings. The five of us worked for six months from an empty classroom in Bankwood Primary School until we officially moved into our new school in December 2007 – what a day that was!

My main role within our school is around student enrolments (pre-enrol, arrivals, departures and out-of-zone) and working closely with our local community to keep the lines of communication open. Some of the many ways this happens is by connecting and building relationships with our parents and families, working with migrant families who are new to our school and NZ and assisting our families who may have difficult circumstances requiring extra care and support. I am the main point of contact for families who may have Court Orders in place, ensuring this information is passed onto the relevant staff. I liaise with the classroom teachers over student’s’ well-being and each week attend an Administration Meeting involving the Principal, Deputy Principal, Executive Officer whereby we monitor and discuss student attendance. It is our aim to have an attendance rate of 94% present across the school.

I am also the staff liaison, organising greeting cards, celebration gifts and the occasional meal roster for any of our Te Totara Family (our staff) who may need some TLC.

I attend monthly Board of Trustee meetings as the BOT Secretary taking minutes and collating/distributing associated reports. I am also the Returning Officer for the BOT Triennial Elections.

Some other aspects of my role include: MOE Reporting, administration around our teacher vacancies, management of ENROL (National Student Number database), Mathletics School Roll, providing First Aid for our students and staff, preparing Year Level student stationery orders, school photos, Learning Plan Interview schedules, future Class Lists etc.

I am very lucky to be able to say that every day I look forward to coming into work, I am fortunate to work alongside four amazing ladies in the School Office who help make each day a great day.

General Information

My name is Carole Carter-Gregory and I am part of the Administration Team at Te Totara Primary School. I started at Te Totara Primary in July 2009 as a Teacher Aide. As the school grew I took on various roles and now I am full time in the School Office. Prior to this I spent 21 years being a full time mother to my sons.

My main responsibility is looking after the School Attendance Register. This is taken twice daily so if you receive a phone call from me please don’t be offended. We do our best to keep your children safe. Remember, if your child is sick don’t forget to get in touch! You can use the Te Totara School app, or phone 07 853-0039, press 1 and leave a message. You can also text 027 207 4466 or email officeassistant@tetotara.school.nz.

I am so very fortunate to work with a great mix of people, who I adore. We have a wonderful Social Committee and a great lot of fun. This makes for great work/life balance.

Hi, my name is Steph Yates and I am part of the Administration Team at Te Totara Primary School. I worked for many years in administration with the Waikato Kindergarten Association at various kindergartens around Hamilton and love being part of the education sector as it's such an important part of our communities and children's lives.

I have 3 children, one who is a pupil here at Te Totara and twins who attend high school. So life is very busy but fun.
